A cool conversation on a hot day.

It’s amazing what can happen when you open yourself to possibility and just DO something.
In an effort to escape the 103 degree oven outside, I ducked into a coffee shop enjoy the air conditioning and the largest iced tea I could get my hands on.

I found a table, sat down, plugged in my devices and prepared to get to work.

There was one other person already working at the table when I sat down. I introduced myself and, explaining that my wife and I just moved to town, asked them, “What’s the one thing someone new in town absolutely HAS to see or do?”

It’s currently my absolute favorite question to open a conversation with. People are generally more than happy to be helpful; and I get some GREAT ideas for things to do.

The conversation that followed was surprising and delightful. The details are not important. What is important is that I was able to share wonderful stories and find shared experiences with a complete stranger.

Not bad for someone who, left to his own devices, defaults to being an introvert.
